Mother’s Dream Lives

Judith and her mother

Mother’s Dream Lives

"I could not continue my education but I will do everything I can to make sure my daughter achieves the dreams I never had the chance to pursue."

Behind every girl pursuing education is a story of hope, sacrifice and determination. Judith’s journey reflects the dreams of many girls whose mothers never had the opportunity to continue their own education. After completing primary school, Judith’s mother was unable to pursue further studies and faced limited opportunities. Today, she is determined to ensure that her daughter receives the education and opportunities she never had. Judith dreams of becoming a medical doctor, and with the support of OMOM Maasai Community Foundation, she is moving closer to achieving that dream. Her story shows that educating a girl creates change beyond the classroom by giving families hope, challenging barriers and opening opportunities for future generations. Judith’s journey is a powerful reminder that when a girl is supported, her success becomes a source of inspiration for her family and community.

Serian Homes: A Safe Place for Girls to Dream

"Serian Home gave me more than a safe place to stay. It gave me hope and the confidence to believe in my future."

For many girls, education requires more than a place in a classroom. It requires safety, support and a community that believes in their future. Through Serian Homes, OMOM Maasai Community Foundation provides vulnerable girls with a safe and supportive environment where they can continue their education away from challenges that prevent many children from reaching their full potential. What started as one safe home has grown into two Serian Homes supporting 33 girls with accommodation, mentorship, life skills and a nurturing environment where they can focus on their education. Every Serian Home represents more than shelter. It represents protection, hope and opportunity for girls who deserve the chance to pursue their dreams. Within these homes, girls are building confidence, strengthening their abilities, and preparing for futures where they can become leaders, professionals and changemakers in their communities.

One Child Can Change Everything

"Someone believed in me when I needed it most. Today I am proving that one opportunity can change an entire life."

Every movement begins with a small step and a belief that change is possible. For OMOM Maasai Community Foundation, our journey began with three children whose dreams of continuing their education were uncertain. In 2021, OMOM started by supporting Julius, Ester and Eva to continue their studies. Their journeys became the foundation of our commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn and succeed. Today, Julius and Ester are in Form Five while Eva is pursuing a Certificate in Gender and Community Development. Their achievements represent the impact of believing in children and providing them with the support they need to reach their potential. From supporting three children at the beginning of our journey, OMOM has grown into an organisation supporting hundreds of girls and families across northern Tanzania. Their stories remain a reminder that investing in one child can create opportunities that transform communities and inspire future generations.

From Magadini Village to the World

"I believe education changed my life and that every Maasai girl deserves the same chance to dream without limits."

Naomi Emanuel Koinase’s journey began in Magadini Village where she experienced many of the challenges that limit educational opportunities for Maasai girls. Through determination, resilience and a strong belief in the power of education, Naomi became the first person from her village to graduate from university and later earned a Master’s degree in Gender and Development from the University of Sussex as a Chevening Scholar. Her personal journey inspired the establishment of OMOM Maasai Community Foundation, an organisation committed to ensuring Indigenous Maasai girls have access to education, leadership opportunities and safe environments where they can thrive. Today, Naomi’s story continues to inspire OMOM Stars and young people across communities by showing that education can open doors, transform lives and create opportunities for future generations.

Nganashehood Leadership Bootcamp

Raising Tomorrow’s Leaders

"Before joining Nganashehood I was afraid to speak in front of people. Today I have the confidence to lead and inspire others."

Education is not only about academic achievement. It is also about confidence, leadership, and helping young people discover their voices. Through Nganashehood, OMOM Maasai Community Foundation supports young people with leadership development, public speaking, career guidance, mental health awareness and mentorship. The programme has reached more than 2,500 childrean and youth across 23 partner schools, creating spaces where students can build confidence, develop leadership skills and explore their potential. Many students who once struggled to speak in front of others are now leading school clubs, sharing their ideas, and inspiring their peers to pursue their ambitions. Nganashehood is built on the belief that every young person has the ability to create change when given the right support and opportunities. By investing in young leaders today, OMOM is helping build a future where Indigenous youth are empowered to lead their communities with confidence and purpose.
