A thriving Maasai community
A future where Maasai girls have equitable access to education, develop leadership skills and participate in shaping a just and empowered society — equipped to drive positive change in their communities.
A youth- and women-led non-profit committed to transforming the lives of Maasai girls and their communities through education, leadership development, and community engagement.
OMOM Maasai Community Foundation is a youth- and women-led non-profit committed to ensuring that Maasai girls can transition successfully from primary to secondary school, develop confidence, leadership skills, and become agents of change in their communities.
Maasai girls face multiple barriers to education, including long distances to schools, lack of essential learning materials and harmful cultural practices such as early marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). OMOM addresses these challenges by providing safe housing, mentorship, leadership development programs and life skills training.
Our integrated approach ensures that girls are supported both academically and socially, while communities are empowered to promote gender equality, education and overall wellbeing. By investing in the education and leadership potential of Maasai girls, we cultivate a generation of confident, capable leaders who can break cycles of poverty and marginalization.
A future where Maasai girls have equitable access to education, develop leadership skills and participate in shaping a just and empowered society — equipped to drive positive change in their communities.
To empower Maasai girls through access to education, safe housing, mentorship, and personal leadership development, while engaging communities to eliminate harmful practices and foster supportive environments for girls' growth and success.
Each objective drives concrete action across all our programs.
Enable Maasai girls to move from primary to secondary school by providing guidance, essential learning resources, and continuous support.
Ensure girls have secure housing where they can develop life skills, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
Empower girls through mentorship, leadership boot camps, and school clubs to build confidence, advocacy, and personal growth.
Engage parents, elders, community leaders, and local authorities to challenge harmful practices and support girls' education and wellbeing.
Born in 1999 in the indigenous Maasai village of Magadini, our founder's story is a testament to the transformative power of education, dedication and unwavering faith.
From the daughter of Mama Anna Mollel — a champion of women's rights who fought against harmful practices like FGM and waited 20 years to become a mother — to the founder of an organization changing lives across Tanzania, every step shapes the mission of OMOM today.
Mama Anna believed in the power of education to break cycles. Her dream was to see her daughter — and every Maasai girl — thrive, learn and lead. That dream lives on through OMOM.
Whether through a donation, volunteering or partnership, your support transforms the lives of Maasai girls.
